Article views and "Was this guide useful?" votes
The site counts how many times each guide is read and how readers vote, using its own small counter on this server. To count each visitor only once per guide — normally once every 12 hours for views (once an hour while the site owner runs a short counter test) and once every 30 days for votes — the server keeps a one-way code made from your IP address and the guide's name, mixed with a secret value. Your IP address itself is not stored, and the code can't be turned back into it. These codes are removed after at most 12 hours (views) or 30 days (votes).
What is kept long-term is only the total for each guide: the number of views and the number of "yes" and "needs improvement" votes. Those totals contain no personal data. The number of views is shown on each guide; the vote totals aren't published.
Your browser also remembers that you voted on a guide, and when you last viewed it, in its own local storage on your device, so the buttons don't appear twice. You can clear this at any time in your browser's site-data settings.
What this site doesn't do
- No cookies, analytics, advertising or tracking services.
- No third-party scripts, fonts, videos or social media widgets — everything is served from this site.
- No personal data is sold or shared.
Server logs
Like most websites, the hosting provider's web server may keep standard access logs — for example the IP address, the date and time, the page requested and the browser type — for security and troubleshooting. These logs are managed by the hosting provider and aren't used by this site to identify or profile visitors.

Guides link to Microsoft Learn, vendor documentation, GitHub, LinkedIn, Credly and other sites. When you follow a link, that site's own privacy policy applies.
